The Power of Personal Branding: Chris M Walker of Legiit On How Publicists Shape Influential Leader

The Power of Personal Branding: Chris M. Walker of Legiit On How Publicists Shape Influential Leaders

I share real stories, like managing multiple Amazon seller accounts, which I discussed in Kocerroxy. Specificity makes you stand out.

People trust people more than they trust companies. That’s why more CEOs, founders, and executives are stepping out from behind the logo and building a real public voice, one that reflects what they stand for and where they’re trying to take their business. In this series, we’re talking with leaders who’ve made that shift, from running the day-to-day to becoming recognizable authorities in their space. They’ve learned that credibility builds over time, and that personal branding, when done right, can create influence that leads to something very meaningful.

As a part of this series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Chris Walker.

Chris M. Walker is a Las Vegas based entrepreneur, investor, and founder of Legiit.com, SuperstarSEO Agency, and Audiit. He has been featured in Forbes Tech Council, Yahoo Finance, and Empire Flippers. Chris is recognized as a leading authority in SEO, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation. He continues to empower freelancers and businesses worldwide through ventures like Legiit Leads, Listicle Launcher, and the SuperstarSEO Facebook Group.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series. Before we dive into the discussion, our readers would love to “get to know you” better. Can you share your backstory and what brought you to your current career path?

I started out in the gig economy, freelancing in SEO and digital marketing. Over time, I realized that freelancers needed a platform that truly supported them, so I built Legiit. From there, I expanded into communities like SuperstarSEO Academy and SaaS tools like Audiit. My journey has always been about solving problems I faced myself and then scaling those solutions for others.

Was there a defining moment when you realized that building a personal brand was no longer optional for leaders, it was essential?

Yes. When I saw that people trusted me more than they trusted a logo, I understood that my personal credibility was the bridge to building trust in my ventures. That moment shifted my focus from just running companies to becoming a recognizable authority in SEO and entrepreneurship.

How would you describe the relationship between your business brand and your personal brand today? Do they operate separately, or are they intentionally intertwined?

They’re intentionally intertwined. My personal brand amplifies my ventures, and my ventures reinforce my personal credibility. For example, when I share insights on SEO or entrepreneurship, it naturally drives attention to Legiit and Audiit.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about personal branding for established leaders or executives?

That it’s just self-promotion. In reality, personal branding is about service, sharing knowledge, building trust, and creating opportunities for others.

Can you share a time when becoming more visible personally directly benefited your company or career?

When I was featured in Yahoo Finance, it not only elevated my personal profile but also brought massive visibility to Legiit. That credibility translated into new partnerships and growth.

What were some of the first steps you took to define your personal narrative or thought leadership platform?

I started by consistently sharing my experiences, successes and failures, on social media. I also launched free tools on Legiit, like the SEO Budget Planner and Keyword Prioritization Matrix, to provide value upfront.

Many leaders fear self-promotion or worry about appearing “too public.” How did you overcome that mindset, and what advice would you give others struggling with it?

I reframed it as helping. When you share your story, you’re not bragging, you’re giving someone else a roadmap. My advice: focus on the value you’re delivering, not how you’re being perceived.

How has media, including interviews, podcasts, and social platforms, helped amplify your personal voice, and what lessons have you learned from those experiences?

Being featured in outlets like PageTraffic Podcast and Empire Flippers taught me that every platform has its own audience. Tailor your message, but stay authentic.

Can you share a mistake or misstep you made early in your personal branding journey, and what it taught you?

Early on, I tried to sound “corporate.” It fell flat. I learned that authenticity beats polish every time.

How do you ensure that your personal brand evolves as you and your business grow, without losing credibility or focus?

I stay rooted in my core values, transparency, service, and innovation. As ventures like Link Magnet or Legiit Leads evolve, my personal brand adapts but never loses its foundation.

In a crowded market, what do you do to sound like yourself instead of generic ‘thought leadership’?”

I share real stories, like managing multiple Amazon seller accounts, which I discussed in Kocerroxy. Specificity makes you stand out.

How do you measure whether your personal brand is working, what signals matter, and what signals don’t?”

Engagement matters more than vanity metrics. For example, in 90 days, my Facebook content generated 94M organic views and 4.4M engagements. That’s proof of resonance, not just reach.

Here is our main question. Based on your experience, what are the top 5 strategies leaders can use to build a personal brand that outlasts their business? (Please share an example or story for each.)

Be Authentic

Share your real journey, including failures. Authenticity builds trust faster than polish.

Provide Value First

Offer free tools, insights, or resources. My Legiit calculators (like the Break Even Point Calculator) are examples of value that builds credibility.

Leverage Media Features

Appear in respected outlets like Forbes Tech Council or Yahoo Finance. Media validation amplifies authority.

Build Communities

Create spaces where people can connect, like the SuperstarSEO Facebook Group. Community is the ultimate brand amplifier.

Stay Consistent Across Platforms

Whether it’s LinkedIn, YouTube, or Twitter/X, consistency ensures your message compounds over time.

You are a person of enormous influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be?

I’d inspire a movement around empowering freelancers globally. The gig economy is the future, and giving people tools, education, and platforms to succeed can change lives.

How can our readers continue to follow you or your company online?

You can follow me on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and YouTube. You can also explore my ventures at Legiit, Audiit, and SuperstarSEO.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these insights. We wish you continued success and good health!
